THP-Bangladesh entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) of the Directorate of Health Services in Bangladesh. This significant milestone occurred during a Project Kick-off and MoU Signing Ceremony held on Monday, July 24, 2023, as part of The Hunger Project’s Global Alliance for Sustainable Nutrition in Bangladesh. Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, the Country Director of THP Bangladesh, and Prof. Dr. Shah Golam Nabi, the Director of IPHN, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. The event was attended by a total of 80 participants representing various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, IPHN, UNICEF, Nutrition International, Care Bangladesh, SMC, journalists, and THP.
Beyond these inception events and such a high-level partnership, THP-Bangladesh applied The Hunger Project’s methodology for fostering effective partnerships with local government. We leveraged our deep long-standing relationships with the selected 32 Unions and their Union Parishad (the lowest tier of elected local government.) This means that the local Union Parishad government functions as an enabling environment for its citizens.
